What is an OCDD addiction?

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

We at Boone Homes admit we have a problem. Our problem is more like an addiction. With every addiction, the first step is admitting and recognizing we have a problem. We confess that at Boone Homes we suffer from OCDD (obsessive compulsive design disorder).

We spend an inordinate amount of time obsessing about the design of the homes we sell. Our Design Team composed of Architects & Draftsmen consume many hours poring over floor plans, perfecting the details and consuming vast amounts of coffee. Consumed might be the right word to describe the Design Team’s diligence which drives the engine of design perfection, efficiency and flow. Personal pride grinds the inner gear of excellence in design.  Being able (more…)

What is the Value of a $table Builder?

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

These are the days of economic woes where banks are in complete control of what happens, who builds and what they build. In fact there is a rolling blog that keeps a running tab on local and national financially imploding builders. Another magazine keeps tabs on the down and out while finding out who is in trouble with their financial Deadlines. Why should that be a concern to you? All you want is to get a steal of a deal on your new home. Here are a couple of reasons why.
· $tability of a builder determines whether they will finish your home
· $tability of a builder determines whether your deposit is an investment or a total loss
· $tability of a builder determines if the builder is just seeking to close a home or build a reputation
I think you will see a strong case for choosing a builder who adds long term value, not just a good deal.

Value in a Process?

Monday, December 7th, 2009

What kind of value do you ascribe to process? You know?? The steps one has to take to complete a task? I’m sure you say to yourself, “Why is that important? I’m very pragmatic. All is well if it ends well.” Is it? What if I told you that the care taken in executing the process is just as important as the end product? A finished home is directly impacted by the care executed during the construction process. Take a close look at the picture attached to this posting. This is a picture of one of a national competitor’s pragmatic approach to building a home. Their focus is strictly value reflected in the selling price. In the picture you will see that the home isn’t even close to being ready for windows and doors. Look closer, you will see in the front right windows & doors are sitting on site with (more…)

OTHER PEOPLE’S TOENAILS

This post is not as bizarre as the title may suggest. The topic today is why should people be buying new homes when there is such a large inventory of foreclosures, short sales and just well priced resales.

My first answer is BECAUSE YOU DESERVE IT. I know I am biased but there is nothing better than moving in to a new home and taking that blank canvas and making it your own versus redoing someone else’s taste and needing to make updates.

Some reality checks that play in to this also – Everything is NEW in a new home and you don’t have to worry about replacing this or fixing that. New Homes offer warranties generally for at least one year on all workmanship and materials and the homebuilding industry has stabilized so that you can buy today with much more confidence than you could last year that your builder will be around for that warranty.

But Kevin what about – the DEAL – I’ll pay more for a new home. My answer is – in the long haul, will you? After you fix it up, do the repairs and live (more…)
