Some things are Timeless … Boone Homes

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

I was so excited when I went in a store at the mall with my teen-age daughter a few days ago, and saw the clothing from the 80′s was back in style.  Isn’t it amazing how styles change, and people scramble to make sure they are keeping up.  Imagine the whole “Miami Vice” look coming back — brings a little tear to your eye doesn’t it?  While leg warmers, parachute pants, and other great things may be back in style for a little while, some things like a little black dress or a strand of pearls are timeless and never go out of style.   It is the same with new luxury homes in Richmond by Boone Homes, our homes are built to be timeless.  Our styles and designs are created to look as good in 10, 20 or even 30 years as they do now.   That is an important thing to (more…)

Sounds Of Summer

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

The sounds of summer!  How I love thee, let me count the ways:

I love thee when I rise in the morning to sound of the mower circulating the yard in a desperate attempt to stay one step ahead of the core aerating and fertilizer we spread in the spring.

I love thee in the evening with the tender sound of the irrigation system perpetuating the growth cycle of the grass.

I love careful and affectionate squeaky wheel barrow, rake and blunt shovel as they captivate and restrain the rebellious mulch escaping the planting bed’s meet and bounds.

I love the sound of the gentle lob shears pruning the rose, lilac and crepe myrtle.

I love the warm sloshing of the paint brush as it gathers and disperses the paint of Love on the object needing extensive care.

I love the kindhearted ticking clock as I spend my days off consumed with you needing my presence.

Most of all I cherish the compassionate moistening of the brow and grunts for a big bottle of pain medication at the end of day….

The Children’s Museum opens in the West End

Monday, April 26th, 2010

The Children’s Museum of Richmond has been a staple of the Richmond community for years. I went on school field trips there as a child and loved it. I’ve also brought my daughter there numerous times and I am sure someday she will take her children there as well. It has become a Richmond tradition, a place of learning and fun for all of Richmond’s children.

Now a new and exciting satellite location is opening in the Short Pump area, specifically in the West Broad Village shopping center, near Whole Foods Market. The new location will feature a hands on craft center where children can paint and do all types of fun and messy things, with the best part (for parents) leaving the mess at the center. The museum will open in early June with hours of operation from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. everyday, Sunday-Saturday. (more…)

NASCAR and Youth Soccer?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Yes, NASCAR Racing and Youth Soccer do have something in common. Both are coming to Richmond, Virginia this March.

Each spring the children who live in new home communities throughout the Richmond area can be seen out in their  front yards practicing their offensive game, each hoping to impress the college scouts out recruiting.

On the flip side, NASCAR is back in the area. If you’re planning on attending any of the Richmond NASCAR events, you’ll need to leave home pretty early in order to beat traffic to the race track on a pretty race day.

And if the weather holds true, than May 1st is sure to be a pretty race day in Richmond. Over 100,000 fans will watch the Crown Royal 400 at Richmond International Raceway and see their favorite drivers careen around the track at break-neck speeds.

For all the Richmond soccer fans, mark your calendars for the second and third weekends in March. Over 750 Soccer teams will play in the Jefferson Cup, the No. 1 ranked Youth Soccer tournement in the county. Teams come from as far North as Canada, as far South as Texas and as far west Colorado to try to impress over 400 college coaches with their soccer skills, each player hoping to receive a college scholarship.
