Come Home to a Boone Home in 2011 !

Friday, December 31st, 2010

Have you started writing your New Year’s Resolutions yet?  Where will you be in 2011 ? What goals have you set ?  Maybe they are the usual, lose some weight, quit smoking, eat healthier — we all have our own personal goals we want to meet in the coming year.   Maybe the changes need to start at home. Is your current home meeting all the needs of you and your family ?  Many of us are displeased with our homes and our living space, and it clutters up many areas of your lives.  A new home can give you more space you need for that exercise room, or a new home office can give you time to do those projects at home, and keep you from staying at the office so late.   A new home offers so many ways to improve your life, and your family’s.  It could be just the change you need for the New Year !

Boone Homes Roanoke is offering many new and exciting designs and floor plans, not to mention new homes with energy saving features, (save money in 2011).  Energy Efficient homes are also healthier (another resolution kept- getting healthier).  Gee – I (more…)

Autumn in the Star City

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

Autumn is a beautiful time in the Roanoke Valley.  The Star City is surrounded by mountains that explode with vivid colors this time of year.  A drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the fall can be breathtaking.  Owners of many Roanoke new homes, especially those living in The Groves, a Boone Homes neighborhood located in Southwest County, don’t need to get in their vehicles to appreciate the beauty.  Not only do many homes in The Groves back up to the Blue Ridge Parkway, but the neighborhood features walking trails overlooking the Parkway.  Imagine taking a walk with your family on a crisp fall day and taking in the beauty that surrounds your new Boone home.  To me that seems like a perfect relaxing weekend afternoon and you would not even have to leave your neighborhood.

So you are thinking about buying a Roanoke or Richmond new home, and you wonder why doesn’t a new home come with a warranty like a new car does? Guess what? At Boone Homes it does! Boone Homes has an excellent warranty on all of its homes. One of the best in the industry.

We offer a one year limited warranty on the entire home and the 5 year statutory warranty on the structure.  Best of all, we offer three follow up visits for our homeowners.

During these three visits, homeowners have the opportunity to provide us with any items they want us to address.  That’s right, our homeowners have three opportunities where we ask if there is anything that they are dissatisfied with.

  1. Final Walk Through – generally performed two weeks prior to the closing of your home. We call it the “final walk through” because it (more…)

Roanoke’s Local Flavor

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

When you move to a new area, it can take months, even years really to feel “settled”, and to know where the best shopping is, where the best parks are, who the best doctors are, and where the best places to eat are located.  It can be frustrating starting all over again.

I have lived in Roanoke for three years now, and have been excited to find out that Roanoke has such wonderful local flavor.  What I mean is that Roanoke has such a unique atmosphere of down home charm despite being a rather sizeable metropolitan area.  When I first moved here, I dreaded starting over again. However, I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it was  for Roanoke to feel like “home”.  Living in Roanoke is like slipping on your favorite sweater, it just fits, and it feels warm and inviting. There are two great malls for shopping, and many unique little shops.  There are  wonderful parks, local attractions like the Mill Mountain Zoo, and many locally owned family restaurants that have some of the best food I have ever eaten.

Living in Roanoke means that you definitely don’t have to eat at chain restaurants all the time. Let me share with you a couple of my favorite (more…)

Have you ever been to a zoo on a mountain?

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

When most people think of  visiting a zoo, they don’t imagine it being on top of a mountain, but here in Roanoke we have the Mill Mountain Zoo. A fun adventurous place for families to spend the day and see cute adorable animals and it is educational too!

The Mill Mountain Zoo has been a part of Roanoke history since 1952, and still thrives today as one of the small town treasures of the city. The zoo has a number of different species including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. It also has a nature center that has fun activities for children. Last but not least, there is also a train for the little ones to ride around the perimeter of the zoo. Perhaps the best part of Mill Mountain Zoo is that during the hot days of summer, the zoo  (being on top of a mountain) is generally 10 degrees cooler than the weather in the valley below. (more…)

I want a Sunday drive.

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Do you miss those care free days of driving with the windows down with the sweet smells of spring tickling your nose?

I don’t think you can find a better place for a Sunday drive than on the Blue Ridge Parkway – right here in Roanoke, VA. Many people drive from across the state to spend the day ambling down the Parkway and enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery, but for those of us who live in Roanoke, it is a local treasure that we often enjoy. The weekend is the perfect time to go up on the Parkway for a picnic at Peaks of Otter, just a 45 minute drive down the scenic parkway.

Bring your water shoes, and your fishing pole because Peaks of Otter offers a creek for the children to play in and a lake for fishing.  If you are feeling adventourous, why not hike to the top of Sharp Top Mountain while you are there.  Life seems to slow down a little bit when you are on top a mountain, the stress and worries seem to fade away.
