The No Maintenance Life: Free to Leave

Monday, January 17th, 2011

The golden years are to be enjoyed and celebrated with the important people in our lives. Home maintenance and yard work should not fit into the “important” and “celebrate” category of this stage of life. For this very reason Richmond home builder, Boone Homes, intentionally designed the Courtyard Homes in Tarrington on the James. These villa homes are designed to accentuate life, not maintenance. The Tarrington Courtyard Homes have two predominant characteristics our architects kept at the forefront of their design of this neighborhood.

One: Home
All of the important living spaces were designed for single-floor living. The master suite was designed on the first floor with ample closet space, attached bathroom suite and convenient dressing area. The secondary bedrooms for the occasional guest or holiday gathering are located on the second floor with bathrooms to suit. First floor studies add a secure location to orchestrate the household business or quietly enjoy the afternoon book. The sunroom is a wonderful bonus feature to enjoy year round. (more…)

Some things are Timeless … Boone Homes

Wednesday, November 24th, 2010

I was so excited when I went in a store at the mall with my teen-age daughter a few days ago, and saw the clothing from the 80′s was back in style.  Isn’t it amazing how styles change, and people scramble to make sure they are keeping up.  Imagine the whole “Miami Vice” look coming back — brings a little tear to your eye doesn’t it?  While leg warmers, parachute pants, and other great things may be back in style for a little while, some things like a little black dress or a strand of pearls are timeless and never go out of style.   It is the same with new luxury homes in Richmond by Boone Homes, our homes are built to be timeless.  Our styles and designs are created to look as good in 10, 20 or even 30 years as they do now.   That is an important thing to (more…)

Location, Location, Location …

Friday, August 20th, 2010

Thinking of moving to a new home?  Wondering where you should start looking?  Well, you should ask yourself some questions first to narrow down your search.  After all, the first decision you need to make is Location, Location, Location.  Isn’t that the key in real estate?

Hopefully, by now you have it narrowed down to what state, and city you want your new home to be in.  But that can still leave a huge area for you to search.  So to narrow your search,  think about these things, and organize them in order of their importance to you.

  • Do I want to be close to work ?
  • Do I need to be close to my children’s school?
  • What hospitals and doctors  are nearby?
  • What about parks, restaurants, and shopping?
  • Is it close to my worship center?
  • Do I want to be near family and friends who live there?

Once you have considered these items, and put them in order of importance — say your first priority is being closest to the children’s school; start looking at communities near your child’s school, and see what they have to offer.  For example, many parents in the Richmond area love Chesterfield county schools.  If you want your child enrolled there, then consider Boone Homes’  Haywood Village at Charter Colony or Tarrington Courtyard Homes.   If you (more…)

Sounds Of Summer

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

The sounds of summer!  How I love thee, let me count the ways:

I love thee when I rise in the morning to sound of the mower circulating the yard in a desperate attempt to stay one step ahead of the core aerating and fertilizer we spread in the spring.

I love thee in the evening with the tender sound of the irrigation system perpetuating the growth cycle of the grass.

I love careful and affectionate squeaky wheel barrow, rake and blunt shovel as they captivate and restrain the rebellious mulch escaping the planting bed’s meet and bounds.

I love the sound of the gentle lob shears pruning the rose, lilac and crepe myrtle.

I love the warm sloshing of the paint brush as it gathers and disperses the paint of Love on the object needing extensive care.

I love the kindhearted ticking clock as I spend my days off consumed with you needing my presence.

Most of all I cherish the compassionate moistening of the brow and grunts for a big bottle of pain medication at the end of day….

Glass in the Garden

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

If you are new to the Richmond area, perhaps you are not familiar with Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. If so then now might be the perfect time to visit during the annual “A Million Blooms” spring flower display. This year you can also see the Glorious “Glass in the Garden” mixed in around all of the flowers and trees in the garden. There are more than 100 pieces in this equisite exhibit by renowned glass artist Hans Godo Frabel. This is the debute for the exhibit in the mid-Atlantic region, and it will include three major new pieces. Some of the pieces are large, like the 900-pound  clear glass cubes in the upper gardens; and some are small, like the tiniest glass frogs, lizards and flowers in all the other areas of the garden. Glorious Glass in the Garden: The Art of Hans Godo Fräbel at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden runs April 1, 2010 – Jan. 10, 2011. It will also be a part of GardenFest of Lights. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy all the beauty of Lewis Ginter and the Glass in the Garden. (more…)

Bubble Bath Heaven

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

There is nothing I like more than going home to the sanctity of my spa-like bathroom and relaxing in a therapeutic bubble bath. Scented candles, relaxing music, and the gigantic bathtub filled with hot steamy water and aromatic bubbles that come all the way up around your neck and tickle your nose. Just sink down into the bubbles and let your muscles relax – ahhh — now that is how you let your troubles drift a way. I am feeling relaxed now just imagining it. For all of the lucky home owners in Richmond and Roanoke who had their homes built by luxury home builder, Boone Homes, this relaxing scene could easily be reality.

Sounds good doesn’t it?

The beautiful master baths in our homes are luxurious and beautifully crafted with intricate tile work, walk in showers, jetted garden tubs and so much more. The best part of buying a new home from Boone Homes is that it is custom designed just for you. (more…)

Are you Intimidated?

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

What’s more intimidating: riding the new Intimidator 305 - at Kings Dominion, or buying a new home? I would have to definitely say the Intimidator at Kings Dominion because when you work with the friendly and knowledgeable sales team at Boone Homes the fear and intimidation flies right out the window.

While the Intimidator will plunge you 305 feet straight down at 90 mph making your stomach come up in your throat, our sales team will ease you in to a step-by-step process that shows you how easy home buying can be – even in today’s market. The Intimidator may be the biggest baddest coaster on the East Coast, but we think our Sales Team is the friendliest and most helpful homebuying team in town. We offer new home buyer counseling sesssions, a wish list to help you make your choices and so much more.  (more…)

Boone Homes: the best of everything – even healthcare.

When you are moving into a new area, how high does a good hospital rank on your list of concerns?

For some of us who feel indestructible it might not be a high priority. That was me a few years ago. I was working full time, planning a wedding, going back to school and “healthy as a horse” as the old saying goes. Then four months before my wedding, a sore throat quickly became a serious problem, a rare bacterial infection. The quick thinking and skills of the excellent physicians and nurses at Bon Secours St. Francis ultimately saved my life.

I hope that you never need a hospital, but it is certainly comforting to know that some of the best medical care in the country is right here in Richmond, Virginia. No matter what age you are, or how healthy you think you are, it has to be comforting to know if the time ever came – help is just a few miles away.

When Boone Homes builds a community, we take into account all of the things that are important to a family. (more…)

Is there really such a thing as a gentle dentist?

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Moving into a new area often means finding a new doctor and a new dentist. Sometimes that can be difficult because good health care relationships seem increasingly harder to find these days. It might feel archaic, but even in our modern society many people are still afraid of going to the dentist.

I used to be one of those people, then I met Dr. Pranee White and Dr. Scott White. This dynamic duo have changed how I feel about dentistry. Ten years ago I was a young woman with a mouth full of cavities because I was afraid of the dentist. Painful and scary treatments from my childhood haunted me, but soon the time came when I knew I was going to have to relent and meet the dentist. (more…)
